A City Lift Fire Elevator, also known as a Fire Lift, is a specialized elevator designed for use during emergencies, particularly in the event of a fire. Unlike standard elevators, which are typically deactivated during fires to avoid potential hazards or malfunctions, Fire Elevators are engineered to operate under extreme conditions.
City Lift Fire Elevators feature fire-resistant materials, emergency power systems, and advanced control mechanisms, enabling firefighters to safely navigate buildings during rescue operations. These elevators are built to comply with rigorous building codes and safety standards, ensuring the protection of both building occupants and emergency responders.
The Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) 2034 for Greater Mumbai and the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR) for Maharashtra have introduced stricter fire safety norms:
Fire Evacuation Lift : Mandatory for 70 metres and above building.
Advanced Lifts : Must have power backup, fire-resistant cabins, and glass, able to reach the top floor from ground level within a minute.
Usage as Regular Lift : These lifts can be used as regular-use lifts for maintenance purposes and should carry minimum 8 person.
Building Height : High-rises must include fire towers with 2-hour fire resistance, evacuation lifts and ventilated lobbies integrated with fire escape staircases.
Compliance Penalty : Non-maintenance of fire installations or failure to secure certifications could lead to fines, penalties, or even withdrawal of the Occupation Certificate.
Established in 1980, City Lift India Ltd was founded with a clear and unwavering vision: to meet India’s burgeoning vertical transportation demands. This steadfast vision has been the guiding force behind the company’s growth and evolution over the years.
